WHAT IS A HEALTH & nutrition COACH?

My overall mission is to support you to implement new lifestyle choices, identify barriers to overcome change and provide you with the knowledge and tools to take control of your own health.  

When it comes to nutrition I strongly believe in eating a balanced diet personalised to your needs, that fits in with your life.  Food should be enjoyed, not restricted and often we just need guidance in making better choices - and this is where I come in! There is so much information out there that is conflicting, and quite frankly overwhelming, it’s no wonder we struggle to get it right.  I want to show you where to start and support you in creating healthy habits that become everyday life in transforming your health.

As a Health coach, the focus is on whole health and puts sustainable behaviour change at the heart of preventing, managing and potentially reversing lifestyle-related conditions.

Research shows that we want better health, but we're overwhelmed with information about what we 'should’ be doing about our diets and lifestyle.  Our GPs, hospitals, and healthcare services are struggling to cope with rising numbers of lifestyle-related diseases, and this is where the role of a health coach can play an important part.

A UKHCA Health and Wellness Coach is a qualified, accredited professional who upholds the highest of standards in health and wellness coaching for the UK and Ireland and who commits to adhering to a Scope of Practice specific to health and wellness coaching and to upholding a professional Code of Conduct.

A UKHCA Health and Wellness Coach understands that each individual is unique and takes a holistic lens to consider a wide variety of lifestyle factors that can either support or undermine health. For example: whether we have purpose and meaning in our lives; what, when and how we eat: whether and how we move, sleep, rest and play; how we manage stress; the impact of our relationships and social connections; and not least, the nature and quality of the environment in which we live.

A UKHCA Health and Wellness Coach enables and empowers a client to respond and adapt positively to challenges to their health environment, supporting them to develop the confidence to make conscious, sustainable lifestyle choices and pursue activities that support that individual’s continuum to achieve their whole-health potential.

Health Coach Professional development

In order to maintain professional status, level of competence and code of conduct as a Health Coach, membership associations ANP and UKHCA require a minimum amount of further training and continued professional development (CPD).
